Lost is everything you would expect from a Gameloft game based on the hit TV show. It’s polished, well presented, but it doesn’t do anything anything exceptionally new, or, for that matter, especially well. Rest assured, what you can expect is a bit of action, a few puzzles and a high quality adaption of a high quality show.
Lost pits the player as Jack Shepherd, the troubled doctor and hero of the show. Trapped with a group of survivors on a (seemingly) deserted island, the game progresses through most of Season One of the show, with a slight mobile twist of course. You’ll re-live all the main events you enjoyed watching, the dramatic initial plane crash, meeting the Others and encountering the creepy smoke monster. It is very cool being able to play through your favourite moments, although the game does sometimes feel like you’re acting through the show, going through it scene by scene rather than being fully immersed in the game. It does have a linear nature to it, meaning it feels very scripted what happens; you’re forced to go from Point A to Point B without any room for exploration or the ability to really enjoy the neat scenery the game provides.
Variety is the name of the game here; rather than making Lost simply a shooter or an adventure game or even a puzzler, Gameloft couldn't make up their minds and instead decided to throw in a bit of everything. Shooting at wild beasts, running away from them, blowing stuff up using dynamite, entering codes, saving the ladies and of course uncovering the truth behind the island through extended sequences of searching around the hatch. Above all its fun, there's nothing more rewarding than recreating a heroic rescue on your small mobile screen, and the well thought out tasks and challenges keep the game fresh and varied. All of your tasks in the game are just like you'd see in the show, and herein lies a problem. Lost is storyline driven, and this holds true for the game, not just the TV show. Although it’s likely if you’re attracted to the game in the first place you’re a fan of the show anyway, be weary of the fact that the game relies on its plot to keep going, and if you’re not drawn into the storyline, you’re likely not to be drawn into the game itself. People who love the show will be left very impressed, but anyone that isn't already familiar with the Lost show on TV will likely be bored with it and left wondering why they bothered.

Lost is exceptionally well presented. It's no secret Gameloft pride themselves on the looks of their games, and in this regard Lost is no exception. As far as the graphics go there is nothing special or fancy, the game is similar in style to the Rainbow Six games and is all in 2D, however what IS special is the way the developers have managed to recreate the Lost world so accurately. The characters all seem to be cartoony replicas of their real-life selves, and its almost uncanny how you can walk around the crash site and notice all the characters from the show; Sayid, Hurley, they're all here, easily recognizable and looking great.
In keeping with the great graphics the sound is equally impressive, with some very strong music tracks playing during cut scenes ensuring the mood remains mysterious and haunting, and as well as this the game kicks out some neat sound effects to help accent the action. Very impressive.
Lost the mobile game feels like a blockbuster title in its own right. The extremely high production values are obvious; every part of the game has been perfected to a tee, and any avid watcher of the show will want to play the game from beginning to end. The game isn't particularly long, a decent gamer could get through it in an hour or two, but it's definitely one of Gameloft's stronger titles and will remain on my phone (and undoubtedly many many others) for a long time to come. Highly recommended.
